The Tarot is a pack of 78 playing cards that have been around since the mid-15th century in Europe. From the late 18th century on, Tarot cards have been used both for divination as well as a kind of guided meditation.
Does Tarot tell the future?
People who are uninformed about tarot readings often wrongly believe that they predict the future. And, while tarot readings aren’t just “party games” or “fortune telling,” there is some truth in this common misconception. While tarot cards don’t do things like tell you how many children you’re going to have or the name of the person you’ll marry, they can actually provide you with important information about the future. There are some people who have the ability to see the future independently of the cards and combine the two talents to make for a more in-depth experience. I am not clairvoyant in any way.
HOW ACCURATE IS IT?
Because I am a human being and the cards are open to interpretation there is always a chance that I might be off on how I see the cards relating to you. You have free will, and ultimately decide if you are going to listen to the advice of the cards or not - which of course impacts how accurate you feel that I was. As a general statement though, I would estimate that around 85-90% of the time people tell me that I am dead on.
DOES THE DEATH CARD MEAN I AM GOING TO DIE?
Death does not necessarily, or even usually, indicate physical death. In fact, in general, it is considered irresponsible for readers to predict physical death, as we are creatures with free will, and such things are not written in stone. This card simply indicates transformation and change. This is definitely a time of deep transformation, likely to be both inner and outwardly in your life. Situations, things, and people that you have counted on or gotten used to may no longer be available to you in quite the same way as they once were, and this transition can be difficult for some people.
ISN'T TAROT EVIL?
No. Realistically the tarot is nothing more than 78 cardboard rectangles with pictures on them. Most people who use tarot do so because it helps them find direction. They see it as a tool for problem solving and decision making – as well as an ally on their life’s journey. And the majority of readers get into tarot professionally because they want to help people – and tarot just happens to be their preferred method. It is the intent of the reader which determines if the cards are harmful. A knife in the hands of Gordon Ramsey is a tool to create something amazing, while that same knife can cause serious harm in the hands of a criminal.
I THOUGHT TAROT READING WAS A SCAM?
Is it a scam when you go out to dinner and hate the dinner? Or buy a book and the ending disappoints you? Anyone can learn to read Tarot. You could. Some are more skilled than others. Some will be more intuitive than others, or more socially skilled. Anyone selling readings is selling a service. They are selling their skill and time, like anybody else. There is a lot to learn in Tarot. It may take years to arrive at the (rather intimidating) decision to offer a professional reading service to complete strangers having read for family and friends. But there are bad readers and scam artists out there, just like there are everywhere.
WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS?
I have been reading since I was 16. In recent years I have gone from "dabbling" into going full time with tarot. I have read for the Free Tarot Network now for several years and am currently one of their most experienced readers. I am also a seasoned reader on several mass market psychic networks. I have taken a number of development courses and am a member in good standing with both the American Tarot Association and the Tarosophy Worldwide Tarot Association. In addition I have self published 2 Lenormand decks, 2 oracle decks and several books.
WHAT KIND OF CLIENTS DO YOU WORK WITH?
Really I can read for most anyone, although some are easier then others. To take full advantage of my particular skills though my ideal client is a woman who is busy juggling everything life throws at her. She is usually a wife, a mother and works full time. She sometimes forgets to take care of herself because she is so busy taking care of everyone else. Maybe she wants to start a new career, or regain the spark in her marriage. If so, this is the place for her! Don't worry though - we have many happy male clients also. There are even a few Hollywood names in the mix.
WHAT MAKES THIS SITE DIFFERENT THEN FREE TAROT READING SITES?
If you google tarot reading, a large number of sites are going to pop up that offer free readings. Most (not all, but most) of these are going to deliver you a computer generated spread or reading that is in no way personalized to you or your situation. When you request a reading from me you are getting ME! I actually sit down at a table with a deck of cards, shuffle, and perform your reading. For larger spreads I take pictures of the cards drawn. For smaller spreads I generally use a stock photo of that card just so you can see the color and details better. I give you my complete attention and I make sure that the reading that you get you can actually use.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET MY READING?
Even though I am in school full time I can generally answer an email within a couple of hours. Reading delivery time is based on which reading option you choose, and all readings have the turnaround time posted in their descriptions. Because delivery is via email, we advise you to add our email admin@tucumcaritarot.com to your address book so that we don't end up in your spam folder. Readings are performed in the order in which they were paid for, so if I end up with a heavy day there may be a slight delay. Anything more then a few hours will be communicated to you. Please be aware that around major holidays like New Years and Valentine's Day there may be additional processing time.
CAN YOU TEACH ME TO READ TAROT?
The beauty of tarot is that anyone can learn! While I no longer offer one on one instruction, I do offer workshops a couple times a year. I am currently revamping a Tarot 101 class that is online and self paced. Currently it will be offered for free, although later this year we will begin charging a small fee to cover the software used.
IS THERE A RIGHT WAY OR A WRONG WAY TO ASK A QUESTION?
A tarot reader can answer any question - right?
Well, not quite. You see interpreting tarot is really much more difficult if you don't have the correct framework. For example, if you ask me "When am I going to marry Johnny?" chances are you aren't going to be happy with the answers I provide. Frankly I hate timing questions, and if you ask me one I am gonna do my best to weasel out of it. Some readers have psychic abilities and CAN answer those kinds of questions, but trust me I am not one of those. But if you ask me "What do the cards say I can do to make this relationship go to the next level?" you are going to get a lot more in-depth answers and be much more satisfied with your reading. It is going to be much better for you (and for me!) if you ask SPECIFIC and open ended questions. Try not to ask things like "Should I...?" and "Will I...?" - These are questions that tend to remove you from any responsibility for how things turn out, and that's just not how we do things around here! We want you to be empowered, and to have a say in what happens in your life, and your questions should definitely reflect that. And while we are at it PLEASE don't ask me about what Johnny is going to do or think about a situation. He's not here for a reading, and it is just icky to me to crawl around someone else's destiny without their permission. Here are some examples of effective questions to present to your reader:
