Getting to know your tarot reader is an essential part to getting a reading. Sure, you can stop in at any psychic shop and plunk down money to have a reading... but when you have a connection to your reader then the experience is SOOO much better. Here is the first in my 10 part series of questions that will tell you all you need to know about me...
This morning I sat down with Arwen Lynch for an interview talking about me and my deck designs. We even did some readings on air! Check it out and drop any comments and questions below...
This morning the new is abuzz with the fact that Paul Haigh, one of Australia's worst serial killers, has asked to have a deck of tarot cards as he sits and serves six life sentences. It has raised some questions about if death row inmates (and those serving life sentences) should be allowed access to pagan tools. I weigh in on the controversy.
When you read this I will most likely be on a plane, flying over some of your heads! We are on our way to Vermont for a bit to visit family and pick up my second oldest son. It's been about 5 years since we were last there, so family is so excited to see/meet our youngest Savannah. What are you doing this week?
Finally! We are back with our weekly card draw. This week we get ready to kick of the summer. I have been hard at work revamping my office area so that I can really focus on the website and blog. It's a little scary because this will be the first time that I really decided to go for it and make tarot my full time job - no safety net for me anymore!
So without further ado, this is how these readings work. Instead of being able to ask a question and get a targeted response think of these more as a general reading for the week ahead, like when you flip the newspaper to the back page to read your horoscope.
You are asked to pick a card from the 3 or 4 that are shown face down (each is numbered), commenting on the one you are drawn to. Then click READ MORE to reveal what the card has to tell you. Ready?
I am so thankful to have such wonderful fans and clients. I have worked really hard to come up with an incredible rewards program, and I think that you will love it. Want details? Keep reading.
Can you believe that school is almost out for the summer? Me either! I am lucky enough to be on the verge of graduation with my Associates in Paleontology... and am dreading it at the same time I am celebrating.... Today is a lesson in the Death card.
Payment for tarot readings can be a hot button topic for some people. And it is easy to see why when you look around online. There are hundreds of readers who have hung their shingle out on the world wide web with prices ranging from free to hundreds of dollars per session. So why should you pay for a reading, how much should you pay and what should you expect for that payment...? Let's explore the nitty gritty details.
As a member of the American Tarot Association, I subscribe to the following code of ethics:
Over the last month my little corner of the world has literally been in flames. Wildfires have raged across several states in the southwest. People have died, and countless animals have been burned and killed as well. We breathed a sigh of relief when the flames were extinguished so imagine my anger (and fear) at what I saw today...
I'm sitting here this morning, thinking about all the ways that my life has changed over the last 10 years. If you had asked me then what I would think about all this, I probably would have laughed. Everything I never knew I always wanted... but was I brave enough to take the leap?
I'll be the first to admit that Valentine's Day is my LEAST favorite of the holidays. But for many of you, that isn't the case. Heck, it's a $19 BILLION a year holiday! I wanted to share with you some of my favorite ideas for those of you looking for love today...
Last summer our tiny town of Tucumcari saw the glitz and glamour of Hollywood movie making descend. Actors Ben Foster, Chris Pine and Jeff Bridges shot several scenes for their upcoming movie Hell or High Water. Now, I'll admit, I was a little giddy... Chris Pine, less then a mile from my HOUSE? Heck yeah! But now it looks like we might actually get some attention!
This year I wanted to start fresh, to do something for myself. I dealt with some clients last year that just drained me, and one that almost made me quit reading. I figured if I didn't have an outlet to get some of that energy out that I was going to go crazy. Hmmm, what soothes my savage inner beast? Art - that's what! I wasn't quite ready to start a new deck project (although there WILL be a new oracle deck coming this year) so I dug out the art supplies. Using a digital camera, paints, chalks and more I set out getting to work. The result is a gallery of work that I am quite proud of. Not one to hog them all to myself, I decided to upload them to Pixels.com and share them. Each piece can be purchased as a print, canvas, greeting card, coffee mug and more. The money raised through these sales will go towards deck creations this year. Feel free to browse by clicking the link or the picture above. - and let me know which ones are your favorites...
This week saw the loss of Carrie Fisher, the iconic actress who stole our hearts as Leia Organa in the Star Wars franchise. But to me, Carrie was so much more. She was a symbol of strength and feminine power, a reminder that mental illness doesn't have to destroy you. Despite being bipolar, Carrie was a successful mother, actress, writer and advocate for mental health.
As I get ready to sit down for turkey and all the fixings, I wanted to take a moment to express my thanks for you. Yes, you! The ones who offered me advice to make my site better, the ones that warned when I was going overboard, the ones that stuck by me through all the changes of the last year. And most of all I want to thank all of those wonderful people who purchased readings or castings over the last year and allowed me to be a part of their life, even if it was a brief amount of time. Happy Holidays and thank you everyone!
So my friends and some of my family have woken up this morning and are so full of fear - and I feel for you, I really do. It must be very difficult for you to champion someone so hard and have them fall short.
This will be my sole political post for today. Yes, I voted for Trump. "How as a woman can you support him?" I was asked repeatedly yesterday. People whom I thought were friends called me a moron, a traitor, a rapist lover, one even told me I should just go hang myself now.... Really? This is the love and peace that I am supposed to believe that the democratic party would bring? I'm thinking not so much.
Happy Halloween and Blessed Samhain!
Today is the eve of the Wiccan New Year, the old Gaelic fire festival Samhain, which marks the end of the Light and the beginning of the "dark time" of the year. Our modern Halloween is just a shallow shadow of its ancient Pagan self. But then so are all our modern holidays, which used to be Holy Days. There is so much MEANING and DEPTH in the old ways...I often wonder how and why we've "forgotten," or perhaps turned our backs on the old mysteries, the wisdom of the elders, the rituals and festivals that used to mark the turning of the year, the changing of the seasons. There is so much real magick just waiting for us to rediscover it... If I've piqued your interest, please read on...
Many of you may have noticed that there have been some changes around here. I have been thinking long and hard about what my clients want and need from us. Many brain thinkings later (LOL) I have some thoughts and ideas, but would like your input on these possible changes. Please read over the list and let us know in the comments which ideas you love, which ones you hate - and any that you'd like to see that we may have missed.
* Metaphysical Services: In an effort to consolidate my businesses I have moved my spellcasting and chakra services here to this site. Should they remain part of the main site like they are now, or placed into a "members only" type area just for those who are interested?
* Gift cards: We have a couple of options that have presented themselves to us regarding gift cards/gift certificates. Is this something that you would like to see offered? If so, would you want a digital only option or would you consider a mailed gift certificate shipped for free to the person of your choosing? It would be possible to do both options if there was an interest in it.
* Classes: We have traditionally offered classes for those who wish to get into reading tarot themselves. Should these continue? Should they be moved to a different site/platform? If we continue to offer them, is there interest in an all-inclusive option that provides the student with a tarot deck, workbook, etc - or should we leave it as a online only option?
* Instant Customer Support: We are considering adding in an option where if you have questions you can text us and get an almost instant response. Is there interest in this feature?
Feeling out of control and like the whole world is turning into a soggy shit sandwich is really one of the worst feelings that you can experience. And when you suffer from anxiety and depression it becomes ten times worse.
I have struggled since I was a teenager to cope with the big wrenches that life likes to throw at you - and admittedly, when I was 16 my coping skills sucked. Three attempts to take my own life, and destructive behavior could have wiped me off the earth before I even had a chance to live. My coping skills have improved, but some days are still a struggle.
Recently I was diagnosed with several autoimmune issues that had me staring down the barrel of having to go on disability before I was even 40. When you have a husband on disability already, 6 kids, a business and responsibilities it can feel like you are drowning and there is nothing to keep you from going under. I'd like to say that I turned to tarot to get me through, but that would be a load of crap. Truth was, I was angry. Angry at the universe for handing me this disaster, and angry with myself/my cards for not being able to see what was coming. It wasn't the card's fault of course, but for a while it made me feel better to have something external to hate, rather then my own body which was turning against me from the inside out.
I had to step back from my business, and from technology in general because it simply was too frustrating or infuriating when I couldn't make my hands type another word, or my eyes went blurry staring at the screen. It got so I bad that I would lay in my bed and cry about how broken I was, and how my family deserved better then to deal with a broken wife/mom.
It is so important when you are feeling at the end of your rope that you don't let go. Sure, family and friends may not understand, or may tell you that they wish you'd talk about something else... But you have the right to tell how you feel, and to ask for help if you need it. Somedays all I need is a hug from my baby girl to make things better but other days I need to sit down and talk to someone. That second set of eyes and different point of view sometimes make all the difference. So if you are feeling overwhelmed, depressed or even suicidal there are options for you.
