As many of you remember, Hurricane Katrina slammed into our coastlines around 10 years ago, and this week we have been reminiscing with some of our friends. In these conversations we talked a lot about the unstoppable spirit of the city of New Orleans. So this week we have decided to use one of our favorite decks - the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot.
As is tradition with our weekly readings please choose the card that you are most drawn to and then scroll down to see what the cards reveal for you.
Here are the cards revealed. What did your card tell you?
Card #1: Congo 7 La Sirene
The sevens are attributed to Netzach, the seventh vessel of the Tree of Life. The power of this card lies in emotions. The terms "hot" and "cold" in Voodoo describe the essential nature of states and happenings. Emotions are hot, which intellect runs cool. La Sirene is a loa that is responsible for the sacred songs of the voodoo ceremony, bridging the elements of word and music. You stand with one foot in the visible world and one without. Utilize her energy to be a connection. The most obvious manifestation of this card is a marriage, but it can also be the connecting of people entering a new relationship. Be cautious though of the "sirens song" of deception.
Card #2: Santeria 6 Eleggua
Eleggua the watcher, Eleggua the trickster... She stands at the door to let you in, but there is no telling if she will let you back out. Followers of Santeria often have concrete oshiras hidden behind their doors to protect the house. As Legba is the old man who walks through the phases of the sun, Eleggua is the child who carries the world and plants new seeds. As we can see on this card the door is open, so you can expect to have a clear path to success this week.
Card #3 XIII Las Morts
Those familiar with traditional tarot will see a card that they recognize here - Death. Las Morts are the dead, both named and unknown. We see hands reaching down towards the dead and these hands represent a request for wise counsel and guidance.A chicken shares the space to remind us that all life is sacred, so all death is also sacred.Everyone has their place in the cycle. A primary aspect of this card is motion, with the bodies moving and rolling beneath the water. It is a reminder to you that things MUST change, that life is not static. Embrace the change, because what will be reborn is what is meant to be.
