New to Tarot? Start Here.

Maybe you’ve never had a tarot reading before.

Maybe you’ve had twenty.

Maybe you’re here because your friend swears by tarot, you’re curious but skeptical, or something in your life has become confusing enough that you’ve reached the Okay, fine. Let’s see what the cards have to say stage.

All are welcome.

You don’t need to know anything about tarot to get a reading with me. You don’t need to understand the cards, know the terminology, or even be completely sure what you believe about any of this.

You just need somewhere to start.

First Things First: What Does a Tarot Reading Actually Do?

I think this is worth explaining because there’s a lot of nonsense surrounding tarot. I don’t believe your entire future is predetermined and sitting inside 78 pieces of cardstock waiting for me to discover it.

Tarot is much more interesting than that. A reading can help us look at the energy surrounding a situation, the patterns developing within it, things you may not be seeing clearly, outside influences, someone’s apparent motivations or emotional state, and where the situation seems to be heading based on what’s happening right now.

Think of it less like receiving a decree from the universe and more like getting a really good look at the map.

You still decide where you’re going.

What Should I Ask?

Pretty much whatever brought you here.

You might be wondering:

Is this relationship actually going anywhere?

Why has someone suddenly pulled away?

What am I missing about this situation?

What happens if I stay versus if I leave?

Is this opportunity worth pursuing?

Why do I keep finding myself in the same pattern?

What do I need to understand before making this decision?

Or maybe it’s simply:

What the hell is going on?

Believe me, that one comes up more often than you’d think.

You don’t have to turn your situation into a beautifully worded tarot question before contacting me. Tell me what’s happening. Context actually helps me understand what we’re looking at and gives me somewhere useful to begin.

Will You Tell Me the Truth?

I’ll tell you exactly what I see.

That doesn’t mean I’m going to look for the worst possible interpretation of every card, and it definitely doesn’t mean I’m going to scare you for dramatic effect.

But I’m also not going to turn every reading into sunshine because that’s what someone wants to hear.

Sometimes the cards are encouraging.

Sometimes they’re complicated.

Sometimes they essentially say, You already know the answer to this.

My responsibility is to tell you what I see, explain why I’m interpreting the cards that way, and help you understand what that information might mean for your situation.

You get to decide what you do with it.

Can You Read About Another Person?

Yes—with some limitations.

Relationships are one of my specialties, and naturally that means another person’s feelings, behavior, intentions, or influence often comes into the reading.

We can look at the dynamic between you, how someone appears to be approaching the connection, what may be influencing their behavior, and where that relationship currently seems to be heading.

What I won’t do is pretend tarot turns me into a surveillance camera inside another person’s head.

Cards give us information to interpret. They’re not a wiretap.

That’s an important distinction, and after nearly three decades of reading tarot, I’m very comfortable saying when the cards strongly suggest something—and when they simply don’t give me enough information to make that claim.

What If I Don’t Like the Answer?

That’s allowed.

Seriously.

You don’t have to agree with every interpretation I give you.

Sometimes a reading doesn’t make sense until later. Sometimes it gives you a perspective you hadn’t considered. Sometimes you immediately know exactly what the cards are talking about.

And sometimes you may decide that my interpretation doesn’t fit your experience.

Tarot should give you information to work with, not take away your ability to think for yourself.

I’m a tarot reader. I’m not the boss of you.

Can Tarot Predict the Future?

Yes and no.

I absolutely believe tarot can show where something is headed. I’ve seen it happen far too many times over the years to pretend otherwise. But there’s a difference between prediction and fate.

If everything continues exactly as it is now, there’s usually a direction the situation is moving toward. Tarot can be remarkably good at picking up that trajectory.

But then people do inconvenient things like make decisions.

You change your mind. Someone else changes theirs. You have a conversation. You take the job. You don’t take the job. You finally block the ex you’ve been asking me about for six months.

And suddenly we’re working with a different set of circumstances.

That’s why I treat predictions as probabilities rather than guarantees.

What Kind of Reader Are You?

I’ve been reading tarot since 1997.

Over those years I’ve developed my own way of working with the cards, and I’m much more interested in understanding the story they’re telling together than rattling off memorized meanings one card at a time.

My readings tend to be conversational, straightforward, and detailed.

I’ll tell you what cards came up, what I’m seeing in them, how they interact with each other, and why I think they’re relevant to your question.

Relationships are a major area of my work, along with life transitions, complicated interpersonal situations, personal insight, and past-life readings.

I don’t expect you to believe everything I believe.

I just expect us both to come to the reading with an open mind.

How Do Online Readings Work?

You don’t have to be sitting across a candlelit table from me for me to read for you.

Choose the reading that fits your situation, send me the information requested when you book, and I’ll complete your reading remotely.

That also means you don’t have to arrange your day around an appointment or make awkward small talk with a stranger while wondering whether she’s about to tell you your entire life is on fire.

You’re welcome.

You’ll receive the details of your reading in the format described when you book, and you can actually take your time with it instead of trying to remember everything someone said during a live session.

Ready to See What the Cards Have to Say?

By now, you’ve probably figured out that I don’t believe tarot needs to be complicated, intimidating, or wrapped in a whole lot of mystical theatrics.

You bring your questions. I’ll bring the cards.

We’ll see what comes up, talk about what it means, and hopefully make a little more sense of whatever brought you here in the first place.

And if you’re still not entirely sure what kind of reading you need? That’s okay, too.

We can figure that out.
