Covid-19 Update

COVID-19 is on everyone's lips these days, and for good reason. Here's my update on the impact the pandemic is having on both Tucumcari Tarot and Zia Fox Studios.

Anyone who has followed me for a while knows that I have been pretty open about my struggles with autoimmune issues. As such this makes the risk for me (and my husband) much higher then perhaps the average person. This is a HUGE concern with me as I am running two businesses, both of which have some elements of public interaction to them.

The nice thing about the tarot reading side of things is that a lot of it is already online. As such I can focus on online readings, social media and blog posts with little interruption. Any in person events, clients or potential classes are cancelled for now. I hate to say it, but I am about to become like a hibernating bear - I'm not coming out if I don't need to. I will continue to revisit this as more news comes out - and I will also take a look at how school impacts things too... so far all my classes are still on, but we are going to have to see where that goes. 

Zia Fox Studios

It is here that COVID-19 has had the biggest impact on the business. Zia Fox Studios largely consists of my self published lenormand and oracle decks. Currently the printer that I use is based in Hong Kong - which is right smack in the middle of a lot of the issues. They have been running way behind, as they are running at less then full capacity at the factory.  Another issue that has come up for us is the issue of customs. Many European orders are getting stuck at customs, returned or even destroyed. Despite the CDC saying that the virus cannot live on packages that long I guess some places would rather be safe then sorry. I currently have a $200 order sitting in customs in San Diego, with no signs of it being released anytime soon. I have no idea how long this will continue, so I have a couple of options.

* Completely stop selling decks until the situation resolves
* Look for an alternative printer
* Make the decks available online to print out yourself
* Hide in the studio and pretend nothing is happening

For the time being I am shutting down the Etsy shop and making it so that orders for the decks cannot be placed on the website here for the time being. I have reached out to some contacts about other options, but it is really going to be a play it by ear kind of thing. I will however keep everybody in the loop as much as possible. In the meantime I will use the time to work on some other art projects and products.
