I'll be the first to admit that when I first heard about people cutting the borders off their tarot cards I thought they were nuts. I mean, why on earth would you want to destroy your deck? Turns out, all those people were really on to something with their tarot strip show! Click to get the lowdown on the hottest new trend in tarot! The borders simply become fences, obstacles, impediments to the tarot story flowing as it should. So I started researching borderless decks. There are some decks that simply don't look quite right stripped (usually the ones with artistic borders) but for others it really makes the cards and colors pop. Just check out this before and after of the Tarot of the Sidhe by Emily Carding, you'll be able to witness the magic of a card without boundaries. See how without the borders you can see a continuity of the arms when the cards are laid side by side. Here's another example - one that shows how the landscape can line up and make a single scene - much more cohesive feeling! I'm still plucking up the courage to trim my cards, but you have to admit that it looks pretty amazing! What decks do you think would look great trimmed, or what decks have you yourself trimmed?
